Background Check Yourself

In this day and age every company will run a background check on you, it has become standard operating procedure. The best advice I can give you is to learn how to background check yourself. By doing so you will be able to see what they see, and if there are any errors on your report you will be prepared to explain yourself or warn them ahead of time. By warning your future employer ahead of time you will be helping your chances of getting the job and preparing them, which cant hurt.

Why background check yourself?

60% of background record checks contain inaccurate information.

And this is the same exact information your potential employer will see when they check your background record. In fact, We use the same database (CIS) that 90% of employers use to check your background record. Use the box on the right of this page to background check yourself, if your name appears in the search results that means we have your record on file and you will be able to view it. Believe it or not, errors are VERY common on background record check’s, so common in fact that 8 out of every 10 people has an error on there background report that they are unaware of.  Which is why you must learn how to background check yourself to make sure your report is accurate, If it is not then you will be able to contact the agency and request that they change the inacurate information.  Failing to do so can easily prevent you from getting a job, loan or many other important things.

If your file contains any inaccurate information then return to this page and follow the instructions below:

Remove false information from your background record:

  • State records: You may have to contact each appropriate public agencies to fix the mistakes on your file. Examples of state records are: driving,  judgments, criminal,  tax, liens, court, small claims and bankruptcy records, as well as birth, death, marriage and divorce. State record also manages property information including real estate and vehicles.
  • Credit  Agencies: The three credit reporting agencies are Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. The law says that you can receive a free copy of your credit report once every twelve months. To change information on your report you must write a letter to all 3 agencies to dispute the claim, include copies of supporting documents if you can, then you must wait for them to analyze and investigate your claim and make the appropriate changes. If changes are made you may then request a free report to verify.
  • Block Searches: Some background check services allow you to opt-out of their database. They say that they cannot block your name from every search type but they can from most of them. Most background record services require that you send them your social, name and middle initial, aliases, present and past addresses and your DOB. Keep in mind, that for total protection you will have to make a request with every reporting service separately.

See if your record exists in the largest database in the United States, type your name in the box to the right to background check yourself and see if any error’s exist in your file.

I highly recommend using a service that uses the CIS database such as the official Background Record Check website which is the same database 90% of employers use to run background checks including the CIA. If your name comes up in the search results that means they have your record on file and you will be able to view it. If you notice any errors get this corrected immediately, also you will have the knowledge to tell your future employer about the error BEFORE they find out.
